The ITC Board of Directors is pleased to welcome you to the 44th Annual Insurance Tax Conference! The 2019 Conference program features many of our most popular sessions from years past as well as new sessions focused on emerging and current issues, such as “Exploring New Frontiers: InsurTech and the Taxation of the Global Digital Economy,” and “Cybersecurity Competence: Your Evolving Ethical Duty.”
The ITC Board is pleased to once again offer sessions to practitioners with varying levels of experience. Our “General Interest” sessions are designed for practitioners with 5-10 years of work experience and include sessions that provide updates on familiar topics such as “Developments in M&A” and “Hot Topics in Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation,” as well as technical sessions that take a deeper dive into technical issues, such as “Transactional Planning: E&P and Stock Basis,” and “Taxation of US Multinationals’ Foreign Operations: GILTI, FDII, BEAT, FTC.”
Attendees can also choose to attend some or all of the introductory “Primer” sessions. The Primer sessions include fourteen courses designed to provide an introduction to insurance tax issues for those with 1-4 years of work experience. For those with more experience, the Primer sessions can also provide a good refresher course on certain specialty topics. This year’s Primer sessions include the always-popular “Introduction to Federal Income Taxation of Insurance Companies,” a three-hour session (with a break!) taught by some of our most popular instructors, designed to provide a comprehensive overview of company tax issues. The Primer sessions also include introductory sessions on life/non-life consolidation, investments, international tax, life products, and employee benefit plans, the complete list of Primer sessions can be found in the schedule-at-a-glance.
In addition to providing instructional sessions, the mission of the ITC includes encouraging members to exchange information, ideas and assistance, and creating opportunities for members to develop and deepen professional relationships. With these goals in mind our schedule includes periodic networking breaks as well as our traditional Thursday night cocktail reception, and we encourage you to engage with each other, introduce yourselves to some new folks, and reach out to welcome our newest members and first-time attendees.
Thank you for joining us for this year’s conference.
